Philip Jenkins (født 3. april 1952) er en walisiskfødt amerikansk historiker og kriminolog. Han er kjent for sine bøker om religionshistorie, og har også skrevet en rekke bøker om kriminologiske emner, og bøker om amerikansk kulturhistorie, høyreekstremisme, terrorisme og walisisk historie, blant flere andre tema. Hans forskningsområder innen religionshistorie er særlig globale studier av kristendommen og nyreligiøse bevegelser og fenomener.^[1] Han er professor i historie (Distinguished Professor) ved Baylor University, der han også leder programmet i religionshistorie.^[2] Han var tidligere ansatt ved Pennsylvania State University, der han var professor, Distinguished Professor og Edwin Erle Sparks-professor i humaniora. Han tok doktorgraden sin i historie ved University of Cambridge i 1978. Han meldte seg ut av den katolske kirke da han var i tjueårene og i 1980 ble han medlem av den episkopale kirken, den amerikanske grenen av den anglikanske kirken.^[3]
