Ambloctonus (Амблоктонус — „тупи убица”) је изумрли род плаценталних сисара, из изумрле потпородице Palaeonictinae унутар изумрле породице Oxyaenidae, који је у периоду раног еоцена настањивао подручје Сјеверне Америке.[3][4]

Опис

Врсте из рода Ambloctonus су по свом изгледу наликовале на представнике породице мачке, но за разлику од њих су имале већу главу у поређењу са остатком тијела. Зубна формула код врсти из овог рода је ?.1.4.1-2?.1.4.2.[6] Кутњаци код ови врста су били мање оштрији него год други представника породице Oxyaenidae, док је други пар кутњака (M2) у доњој вилици био умањен (редукован). Ове врсте су се кретале плантиградно.

Понашање и палеоекологија

Врсте из рода Ambloctonus су биле копнени предатори који су у прошлости Сјеверне Америке настањивали плавне равнице и копнене екосистеме.
